Bettina Heinen-Ayech Foundation

The "Bettina Heinen-Ayech Foundation - Foundation for Art, Culture and International Dialogue" is a non-profit foundation committed to the global legacy of the protagonists of the artists' colony of the "Black House" in Solingen. The main purpose of the foundation is to preserve and present the artistic work of the protagonists of the artists' colony, Bettina Heinen-Ayech, Erwin Bowien, Hanns Heinen, Amud Uwe Millies and Erna Heinen-Steinhoff for future generations, as well as to fulfil the artists' concern to advance and promote the international dialogue of peoples and cultures through the medium of art.

The mission of the Bettina Heinen-Ayech Foundation is to research, preserve, exhibit, digitalize and make available virtually the artistic works and writings of the protagonists of the artists' colony. The foundation also intends to document the artistic heritage of its ancestors, as well as the friends and students of the protagonists of the artists' colony and the visitors of Erna Heinen-Steinhoff's artistic and literary salon. One example of this commitment is the creation of multilingual, virtual showrooms and documentation sites about the protagonists of the artists' colony, as well as the promotion of international art exhibitions and artists. In addition to international funding projects for the preservation and scientific processing of the rich art and cultural treasures, the Bettina Heinen-Ayech Foundation also supports regional and local projects, in particular the establishment of a museum in the historic properties in Solingen. The idea of international understanding will also be a focus of the foundation's activities. As a further example of local engagement, an information board was installed on the historic building of the artists' colony "Schwarzes Haus" on 7 November 2020 in memory of the important artists' colony. The Bettina Heinen Ayech Foundation is also concerned with providing thematic support to experts, curators, authors, associations and foundations.
